FAQ

Does Georgia accept continuing education from Nursing CE central?

Yes, the Georgia Board of Nursing accepts continuing education from Nursing CE Central for purposes of license renewal.

Can I use your continuing education for license renewal in Georgia?

Yes, continuing education provided by Nursing CE Central is acceptable to satisfy the renewal requirements for the Georgia Board of Nursing.

What are the continuing education requirements for RNs in Georgia?

  • RNs and APRNs must complete 30 contact hours of continuing education.
  • LPNs must complete 20 hours of continuing education.
  • RNs, LPNs, and APRNs must renew their license every 2 years.

How do I complete a course?

Once you enroll you will have access to all courses. To complete a course you read and learn the course materials, then testify that you have done so by clicking a button. Once this is complete your certificate will be issued.

Are tests required?

No. The North Carolina Board of Nursing does not require that tests be taken in order to issue certificates. We do not feel that tests are an efficient use of nurses’ time. Therefore, we do not require tests. You simply need to read the material and certify you have learned the material with one click.

How do I access my certificates once a course is completed?

Your certificate will be instantly emailed to you once you complete a course. Additionally, it is available online for you to access at any time. We keep a record of your certificates for five years.

What is your refund policy?

Nursing CE Central is happy to offer you a refund if the courses do not meet your state licensing requirements.

Georgia License Renewal BON FAQ

How can I renew my license? Can I mail in a paper renewal application?

Georgia nurses can renew their nursing license online by visiting the Georgia
Professional Licensing online portal (https://secure.sos.state.ga.us/mylicense/Login.aspx?process=ren), or by contacting the Board at 478.207.2440 to request a paper application.

Licenses expire for registered nurses on January 31st of even or odd-numbered years, depending on individual license expirations.

Is the Georgia Board of Nursing waiving any renewal requirements this year due to COVID?

According to the Board, no. Regular requirements for the 2022 renewal period are currently in place, such as required continuing education completion and state fees.

What happens if I don't renew my license before its current expiration date?

The Georgia Board of Nursing says they will administratively revoke the license of any nurse who fail to renew their license on time. Once that happens, a nurse will be required to submit an application for reinstatement. License reinstatements come with additional fees and documentation requirements.

What do I need to have ready when starting my renewal online with the Georgia Board of Nursing?

Most nurses will only need fulfilled continuing education requirements and submitted documentation of them, along with a valid method of payment, to complete their renewal through the Georgia Professional Licensing online portal
(https://secure.sos.state.ga.us/mylicense/Login.aspx?process=ren).

What are the 2022 continuing education requirements for renewal?

Nurses must meet Georgia’s Continuing Education Competency requirements in order to renew their license. While there are several different options of meeting this requirement, most nurses choose to complete 30 contact hours of continuing education from an approved provider (such as Nursing CE Central).

Can I renew now, and complete my continuing education (CE) requirements later?

No. All Georgia nurses must complete their CE requirements, and submit proof of completion to www.cebroker.com (if their CEU provider does not automatically submit documentation for them) before they can renew their license.

Does Nursing CE Central submit proof of completed CEUs automatically to CE Broker? Or will I have to manually do that myself?

To make renewal as easy as possible, Nursing CE Central automatically and
instantaneously reports all CEU completion to CE Broker! We are a certified, CE Broker provider and Georgia nurses who take our courses will NOT have to manually upload course certificates to www.cebroker.com.

How can I check that my renewal application is complete?

Georgia nurses can check on the status of their license, including its new expiration date after submitting a renewal application, by using the Georgia Professional Licensing’s verification search tool (https://verify.sos.ga.gov/verification/).
