Does Florida accept continuing education from Nursing CE central?
Yes, the Florida Board of Nursing accepts continuing education from Nursing CE Central for purposes of license renewal.
Can I use your continuing education for license renewal in Florida?
Yes, continuing education provided by Nursing CE Central is acceptable to satisfy the renewal requirements for the Florida Board of Nursing.
What are the continuing education requirements for RNs in Florida?
RNs and LPNs are required to complete 24 contact hours of Continuing Education every 2 years.
- 16 of the 24 contact hours are to be general hours on any nursing topic
- 2 of the 24 contact hours must be on Prevention of Medical Errors
- 2 of the 24 contact hours must be on Florida Laws & Regulations
- 2 of the 24 contact hours must be on Recognizing Impairment in the Workplace – required every 4 years (2 renewals)
- 2 of the 24 contact hours must be on Human Trafficking
- 2 additional contact hours must be on Domestic Violence every 6 years (3 renewals)
- 1 additional contact hour must be on HIV/AIDS prior to first renewal (one-time requirement)
How do I complete a course?
Once you enroll you will have access to all courses. To complete a course you read and learn the course materials, then testify that you have done so by clicking a button. Once this is complete your certificate will be issued.
Are tests required?
Florida Board of Nursing Requires that the Florida-required courses have tests. The will not accept the following courses without tests:
- Medical Errors Prevention
- Human Trafficking
- Florida Nursing Laws and Regulations
- Recognizing Impairment in the Workplace
- Domestic Violence
- HIV/AIDS
Because of this requirement, theses aforementioned courses do contain a 10 question, true/false test.
Regarding the rest of our courses, we do not feel that tests are an efficient use of nurses’ time. Therefore, we do not require tests on any other courses. These courses do still meet Florida’s general requirements.
How do I access my certificates once a course is completed?
Your certificate will be instantly emailed to you once you complete a course. Additionally, it is available online for you to access at any time. We keep a record of your certificates for five years.
Are the courses timed?
No. Users may complete the courses at their own pace. Nursing CE Central does not monitor your time spent in courses.
What is your refund policy?
Nursing CE Central is happy to offer you a refund if the courses do not meet your state licensing requirements.
