In this course, we will explore the asthma disease process, triggers, and common therapeutic management with particular focus on prevention strategies. It will take the average learner 150 minutes to complete.

After completing this course, the learner will be able to:

  1. Understand the asthma disease process and common causes of asthma exacerbation.
  2. Identify high-risk populations and situations that may increase a child’s risk for asthma exacerbation.
  3. Recognize frequently used asthma medications, mechanism of action, and side effects of the medications.
  4. Describe asthma exacerbation prevention strategies.

Renee is a pediatric nurse practitioner with extensive experience working with pediatrics in a range of settings. She graduated from Saint Louis University and currently works with a pediatric urology group in St. Louis. She has previously worked with critically ill children as a PICU staff nurse.
