Are you a nurse needing CEU’s to meet your state licensure requirement, or wanting a little extra knowledge to boost your practice? When you do a quick google search, you are bombarded with loads of companies, ad after ad, all with a plethora of offerings, and many of us don’t know which one to choose! Well, you’ve come to the right place. Here is a quick rundown of the nursing CEU reviews to help you sift through what matters and what company best fits your needs.
The first thing you should do in your search is determine what your state-specific requirements are for nursing continuing education based on your licensure. Requirements change in some states depending upon whether you are an LPN, RN, or APRN. A solid CE company will have a platform of the state-specific requirements on their website already, for your convenience.
Some states have just a single hour requirement and others have state-specific courses, so it is best to do your research on the hours and courses required, as you search for your CE provider.
With busy professional and personal lives, the last thing a nurse wants to do is waste time and money on a CEU company, just to discover hidden charges, outdated content, annoying and buggy websites, or surprise tests when it’s renewal crunch time.
What to Look for in a CEU Provider
Accreditation
Look for whether the CEU company you are interested in is Nationally Accredited by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) to ensure the courses you take meet quality standards as it pertains to their content, and whether they will be accepted for license renewal purposes in your state. If the company is not ANCC accredited, you will want to make sure they are accredited/accepted in your state by other means.
Target Audience or Licensure Offerings
Find out what type of licenses the CEU company produces content for, such as LPN, RN, and APRN material.
Price Point
What is their pricing structure like? Do customers pay per course? Does the company offer course bundles by state? Are they a one-stop-shop where you pay a flat rate and have access to all courses?
Reviews and Useability
Search for user experience comments on convenience factors and CEU logistics such as the structure of the course content, how you receive your certificate or certificates, customer support problems and testing requirements.
Quality Matters
Nursing CE Central CEO Shane Slone explains that dissecting nursing CEU reviews in this way may seem tedious upfront but can save you a lot of time in the long run.
“Many license renewal windows across the country open up no sooner than 60 days before a nurse’s renewal deadline. With busy professional and personal lives, the last thing a nurse wants to do is waste time and money on a CEU company, just to discover hidden charges, outdated content, annoying and buggy websites, or surprise tests when it’s renewal crunch time,” said Slone.
A reputable nursing CEU company will have a significant amount of real customer feedback on an established review platform. Nursing CE Central, for example, has a 4.9 out of 5 star rating on the consumer confidence website Trustpilot.
Our Customer Support Executive Manager Hannah Eagle says the more a CEU company requests feedback from its users, the more likely that company is to have relevant, timely, and legitimate course content. “We ask our users about their Nursing CE Central experience so that we can continue to modify our courses and the way we present them to meet the ever-changing needs of our nursing community. Nurses are the backbone of our healthcare system and deserve continuing education that is interesting, applicable to the real-world setting, and convenient for their demanding lifestyle,” Eagle explained.
